Super Tuscan wines are very recent when compared to the millennial history of wine in Tuscany.
These are red wines produced in Tuscany that do not follow a specific production or discipline. Super Tuscan marks a sort of rebellion against certification, without renouncing the production of excellent wine.
This term, which does not indicate a name, wascoined by the famous American critic Robert Parker. In essence, a Super Tuscan derives from the mixing of native vines with international vines (Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc …) Aged in the bottle for 12 months, we often find a fruity bouquet, with aromas of cherry, plum, hints of spices and tobacco in these wines.
